December was all about the magic of the Holiday season, we spent time crafting ornaments, baking goodies, and just relaxed and enjoyed our time together in December. Families were invited over for a special Holiday brunch, and it was just amazing getting to know everyone.
November is such a wonderful time to be thankful, and enjoy the fall air. We talked about colors, smells and all things fall. We had our very own farmers market and pumpkin pie stand. We painted cinnamon apples and baked bread.
October has been a wonderful month full of fall fun! We had our first field trip to a really wonderful pumpkin patch; where the kids had an opportunity to pick pumpkins, visit some animals and simply have an all out farm adventure. I would say that was a big hit! During the month of October we have really picked up our fall, and autumn talk. We have gone on many leaf adventures to find the many signs of fall. We have also been discussing colors, and color blending. This morning we created mod podge jars with some beautiful foe leaves. We are hoping to add some candles and have beautiful fall lanterns.
Along with our many fall adventures we have learned quite a few letters. M,N,O,P and are now talking about the letter S. We will begin working with pattern and shapes during the first week of November, and start to touch on simple mathematics. The month of October also brings some wonderful fun for us as well, at the end of the month we will have a fall/ Halloween party that all of the children seem to be looking forward too! We will also join up with Cradlerock elementary and participate in trunk or treat! This is going to be a super fun adventure for all of the children in our community to come together for a safe place to trick or treat! For more detail on this event please see the class bulletin board. What happens at home is EVERYTHING to a preschooler. This is why our next theme will focus on our homes and families. We just finished up our theme “all about me” and now it is time to learn about our home life, who lives with us, who doesn’t, who is in our family unit. Things we do at home. This will give the children the opportunity to talk about the people most important to them and also helps them realize that family, the people we live with, is something we all have in common, regardless of how our families look! Some families have brothers and sisters, some have none. Some families have a Mom and a Dad, others may just have one or the other, and some may have two Mom’s or Two Dad’s and so on. We will also talk a little about our extended families such as grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
During this theme we will start to introduce our letters of the week, as well as our Spanish vocabulary words. The preschool children will be introduced to their daily work books and do daily “brain boosters” such as counting games; memory games, and continue to strengthen writing skills. "Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you."
We started the day by making cut out replicas of ourselves. Everyone chose a special person to dress and create to make little Mini Me's! Of course we ended our day with a little out door adventure, where everyone wanted to pose for photos! Enjoy! |
